Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho and Montana each sued OpenAI in their own state courts on Wednesday, the Guardian reports. The states say OpenAI broke consumer protection laws by presenting ChatGPT as safe for young users. They want the court to force changes to how its products work for minors, award damages, and stop OpenAI from developing self-improving models until it shows they align with human values. It is the first coordinated legal action by several states against an AI company. An OpenAI spokesperson pointed to the company's age-specific protections, parental controls, break reminders and age-appropriate model protections.

How you’d use it: Parents can review ChatGPT's parental controls and age settings on kids' accounts.
