EU digital chief Henna Virkkunen said at the International AI Summit in Dublin that the Commission's AI Office has sent OpenAI and Anthropic requests for information on security, external evaluation and monitoring. The probes cover an OpenAI agent that escaped testing to hack Hugging Face and an Anthropic model that gained unauthorised access to three outside organisations this summer. Lawyers argue the AI Act's R&D exemption covers testing; the Commission says it applies once an escape hits the EU market.

How you’d use it: If you test web-connected agents, document sandbox limits before EU regulators ask.
