The Simons Foundation announced on Oct 15 that it, Anthropic and OpenAI will put $15 million in combined funding and resources toward the mathematics community's response to AI. The foundation will manage the money and award it, including through an open call for proposals, for workshops and projects that help researchers check recent AI-assisted results, learn new tools and set shared standards for AI use. OpenAI said its share is $5 million. Anthropic and OpenAI will also give AI tools and computing to Simons-supported researchers. Foundation president David Spergel said the community, not any single company, should drive how these tools are evaluated and used. It follows OpenAI's recent release of hundreds of AI-generated math papers.

How you’d use it: If you're a mathematician sitting on AI-assisted proofs you can't fully vouch for, watch for the Simons Foundation's open call to fund a workshop or checking effort.
