Thesys released OpenUI 1.0 on Oct 15. The MIT-licensed project, public on GitHub since Dec 2024, lets AI apps and agents respond with charts, tables, forms and other interactive UI built from your own components, instead of plain text. It works with models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, xAI and others, and with agent frameworks such as the Vercel AI SDK and LangChain. Only the React package is at 1.0; the Vue, Svelte and Angular runtimes are still at 0.4. Thesys claims its OpenUI Lang format generates up to 3x faster and uses 67% fewer tokens than JSON-based UI formats.

How you’d use it: Have your support agent reply with a booking form instead of a wall of text.
