Build a private "letter to Santa" picker so a partner helps choose Advent gifts

@davosdodev used Grok Bot and Lakebed to build a small game for planning a partner's Advent calendar. She sees one product at a time and taps super, love it or pass; @davosdodev gets a private results page with picks, prices and links. The bot found real products and prices from local stores, deployed the app, and ran three rounds; in the last round she marked 26 of 50 products as super or love it, and the bot turned those into the 24 days. The surprise stays a surprise.

Try it yourself

What you get

A private shortlist of gifts your partner actually liked, with prices and links, mapped into a 24-day Advent plan.

Tools

  • Grok Bot
  • A place to host a small web app (author used Lakebed)

Time / cost: Not stated; author ran three rating rounds before filling 24 days

Steps

  1. Give a budget, store list and taste hints — not the Advent framing to the picker.
  2. Deploy a one-item-at-a-time rating page with a private results view for you.
  3. Run a few rounds until you have enough "super/love it" picks.
  4. Ask the bot to assign 24 days; buy and wrap yourself.

Copy-ready prompt

Build a private "letter to Santa" web app for Advent planning. Show my partner one product at a time with buttons: super / love it / pass. Keep a results page only I can open, with product name, price and store link. Pull real products under [BUDGET] from [STORES / AREA]. After ratings, propose a 24-day list from the liked items. Do not tell the partner it is for Advent.

Watch out: Prices change; re-check links before buying. Keep the results page private.

In their words

I used Grok Bot and Lakebed to build a small game that helped me plan my partner's Advent calendar. It's a "letter to Santa": she sees one product at a time and taps "super", "love it" or "pass". I get a private results page with everything she picked, plus prices and links. … In the last one, 50 products in random order, she marked 26 as super or love it. Then it turned her answers into the 24 days.
