React with a :grok: emoji in Slack to hand a thread to a Grok Bot routine

The custom :grok: Slack emoji from @imrogb's post

Roger made a custom :grok: emoji for their Slack. When they react to a thread with it, a Grok Bot routine picks the thread up within 30 minutes and handles it: it adds the item to an agenda, logs a ticket or drafts their reply.

Try it yourself

What you get

A one-click way to send any Slack thread to your bot, which adds it to an agenda, logs a ticket or drafts a reply.

Tools

  • Grok Bot
  • Slack
  • Custom Slack emoji

Time / cost: Thread handled within 30 minutes of the emoji reaction (per the author)

Steps

  1. Upload a custom emoji (for example :grok:) to your Slack workspace.
  2. Connect Slack to Grok Bot.
  3. Create a routine that looks for threads with that reaction.
  4. Tell it what to do with each: agenda item, ticket or reply draft.

Copy-ready prompt

Every 30 minutes, find Slack threads where I reacted with :grok: since your last run. For each one, read the thread and do one of:
- add it to my agenda for [MEETING/DOC] if it needs discussion
- log a ticket in [TRACKER] if it's a task or bug
- draft a reply for me (don't post) if someone is waiting on me
Tell me what you did with each thread. Skip threads you already handled.

Watch out: Keep replies as drafts so nothing posts in Slack under your name without a look.

In their words

Now when I react to any thread with it, my Grok Bot reads it within 30 minutes and handles it: adds it to an agenda, logs a ticket or drafts my reply. No integration to build. Just an emoji and a routine.
