Dictate Claude Code prompts with local Whisper so text lands at the cursor

@_Julsgaard_ stopped typing Claude Code prompts. They hold Ctrl+Space, speak, and local Whisper on their Windows PC drops the text at the cursor. They open-sourced it as PrivateTranscribe (GitHub + Windows download in the reply). Demo video is in the post.
Try it yourself
What you get
Spoken prompts transcribed locally and pasted at the cursor in Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
Tools
- PrivateTranscribe (Windows)
- Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
- A mic
Steps
- Install from the GitHub repo or Windows download the author linked.
- Leave Whisper on-device unless you opt into cloud.
- Hotkey → speak → hotkey; review text before Enter.
- Do not dictate secrets you would not type.
Copy-ready prompt
(Spoken) In this repo, fix the failing typecheck in [PATH], keep the public API stable, and show me the diff before committing.
Watch out: Windows-only as posted. Review transcribed text before sending prompts that can edit code.

In their words
I don't type my Claude Code prompts anymore. I just say them. Ctrl+Space, say it, Ctrl+Space. The text lands where my cursor is. Whisper runs on my own PC. I built it for myself. It's free and open source now, so grab it if you're on Windows.
